Abstract Thoughts on Death and Dreams
Like all dreams, life has to end at some point. Whether it will fade away into nothingness, be abrupt, or be revealed piece by piece- its inevitable. Any sane person should fear death, as many people fear a WILD, partly because of the possibilities of death, but mostly because of the unknown. Many religions are hinged upon what happens after death; is there an afterlife, a new life, another plane of existence?
I'm a baptized Christian, but yet a slight agnostic. I'd like to blissfully believe solely, undoubtedly in a religion- who wouldn't want there to be a fantastic life after death? Unfortunately the reality may be much less cushy- an empty nothingness much like before you were born... A grim thought, but one that opens a variety of questions. Logically, scientifically the mind and body end at your death. The question is- do 'you' die with it? Dreams, even are the result of rapidly firing neurons in the brain; if these ceased would you cease to exist?
By now you've probably noted my incoherent ramblings, what do I think will happen after death? Will it continue as real life- only to have the sheets pulled down and revealing death? Truthfully I have no idea how it will all come to a close, nor how it will continue. What I do know is that my impact on the world will have been a positive one. At the end of the day all you have are memories, and even as you age those may leave you.
Alas, this post draws to a close; nothing more answered than when it began.
